Recommended Reading
CAPM 52-16 (Cadet Program Management)- on NHQ site, .pdf file. Cadet staff should be familiar with the policies governing the Cadet Program.
Cadet Staff Handbook- on NHQ site, .pdf file. Although designed for squadron use, this handbook is a good resource for explaining the different staff positions that are also used at encampment, and it covers goal setting and mentoring as well.
Drill and Ceremonies - NHQ listing of a variety of D&C resources. The encampment focus will be on the primary resource, AFMAN 36-2203.
Discussion of lack of sleep at CAP activities at CadetStuff - Failure to sleep indicates a failure to plan. You either have too much work to do during the day or did not use the time during the day wisely, and both of these problems are fixable.
Lorenz on Leadership - General Lorenz is now in charge of Air University, and he has some outstanding points about leadership.
Ten Rules of Good Followership - .pdf file. All good leaders are also good followers. Encampment staff members should be outstanding followers if they expect to be outstanding leaders.
